Robin Reed

Associate Therapist at Long Beach Therapy

I believe in the resiliency of all human beings and have been validated in that belief through experience working as a clinician. I gained confidence in the therapeutic process while working to support individuals and families facing life threatening cancer diagnoses at a children’s hospital, teaching children emotional intelligence at an elementary school and working with juvenile delinquents facing significant challenges in their lives. In my experiences I have learned that an imperative first step when facing challenges in your life, is acknowledging when help is needed. You should commend yourself for taking this incredibly brave first step toward healing and growth.

Before obtaining a master’s in social work, I had the privilege of counseling for several different therapeutic programs tailored to at-risk adolescents. It has been my privilege in these therapeutic programs to have worked with adolescents from all over the world. Individuals needing reconciliation with the law, their community, their families and themselves. Utilizing my undergraduate education in intercultural mediation and communication, I have found it imperative to understand the perspectives that exist and shift amongst intercultural dynamics in order to help people navigate complex issues. It has been my greatest privilege to play a part in creating an emotionally and physically safe environment where healing was able to take place despite personal and cultural differences.

My aim in seeking a career in therapy is to help people reconnect, to others and themselves. I have a humanistic client centered approach. As the expert of your own story we will discover what is working in your life and what is not in alignment with your own personal values. I have worked with individuals, couples and families who have experienced family struggles, trauma, loss, depression, anxiety, addiction and interpersonal conflict. I utilize tools such as CBT, conflict mediation, psycho education, and mindfulness strategies to help you apply what you learn in session to your everyday life. Working from a “person in environment” perspective I aim to help my clients understand and navigate personal challenges in the context of their circumstances. Please contact me with any questions, I am excited to connect with you!

The Values We Live By

What makes us different?

Personal Approach

Therapy is a personal journey and can vary greatly from one person to another. The pace and specific methods used will depend on your unique needs, preferences, and circumstances. The ultimate goal is to empower you to understand yourself better, develop healthier coping mechanisms, and improve your overall quality of life.

How Long Will Therapy Take

The length of therapy is different for everyone – some people find benefit in just a few sessions, while others may engage in long-term therapy. The decision on how long to continue therapy is typically made jointly by you and your therapist, based on the your specific needs and goals.

Self-Improvement

Therapy isn’t just for those with mental illness. People seek therapy for a wide range of reasons, including stress management, personal growth, relationship issues, grief, “feeling stuck”, and more. Therapy is a space where you can speak openly, without judgment, and work towards positive change in your life.

Picking The Right Therapist

Finding the right therapist is a crucial part of the process. It’s important for individuals to feel comfortable and connected with their therapist, as this greatly influences the effectiveness of the therapy. I often tell my clients that therapy is like solving a puzzle. The more pieces you feel comfortable showing your therapist, the better the therapist will be in helping you to solve the puzzle.
