Are There Drug or Alcohol Treatment Programs For Non-Religious People?
How do I get support for alcohol or drug abuse when I don’t want to go to AA or NA because I am not religious?
No matter your spiritual beliefs, there is a recovery program for you. Recovery groups are often a very helpful part of people’s recovery, not matter what you believe or don’t believe spiritually. Not only are there AA and NA groups that are specifically designed for people of different spiritual beliefs, there are other programs outside of the AA and NA program that don’t have any talk of religion, spirituality or a “higher power”. A combination of Individual therapy and recovery support group tends to be the most successful in treatment for people with drug and/or alcohol abuse to stay clean/sober.
Recovery groups can provide you not only with information that can help you in your recovery, but a peer support group that you can’t find in any other treatment method. Getting support from people going through a very similar experience as you can be one of the most life changing things you will ever experience.
