Getting Help With Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) In Long Beach
PTSD is where someone (a child or adult) experienced an event in which they were a victim or saw the event happen. The person often felt an intense fear or thought that they could have harm done to them (or perhaps they did actually have harm done to them). PTSD occurs after the event. It is when you experience distressing recollections of the event, or feel similar things as when the event took place. There are many different symptoms that would be considered PTSD, here are a few: You could be making dinner and all of the sudden, they have a flashback or perhaps their heart starts racing for no apparent reason or they feel like out of nowhere, the event is happening again. They could be having nightmares, having trouble falling asleep, trouble concentrating or being irritable. If you believe that you may be experiencing any of these symptoms, it is important to get checked out by a medical doctor as well as see a therapist. A medical doctor can make sure that the racing heart and other symptoms is not a medical condition. A therapist can help you better manage the symptoms and work through the traumatic experience in hopes of reducing the symptoms.
If you were a victim of a crime, you may qualify to have “Victim’s Compensation” pay for your therapy. When calling, mention that you believe you were a victim of a crime, and I will give you information so you can find out if you qualify.
