Top Reasons People Look For A Gay Friendly Therapist in Long Beach

Are you gay, lesbian, bisexual, transgender person or questioning? I have been working in our community providing mental health therapy for the issues that are specific to the gay and lesbian community for over 15 years. I was the director of clinical services at The Center in Long Beach working mainly with gay and lesbian clients and couples in the Long Beach and Orange County areas. Because of the discrimination we face, finding a gay friendly therapist you can relate to and trust is an even more important and a fundamental part of therapy for the gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual community. Our community needs to be able to go to a therapist and know that they will be accepted, not just tolerated. Lesbian, gay, transgender, and bisexual clients can rest assured that they have found a safe, supportive, affirming therapist with me. Not only am I a lesbian and have been with my wife for 16 years, I have faced discrimination in the medical field. If you are discriminated against at a restaurant or a shopping mall it is embarrassing. To not be sure if you are safe in a medical setting (like a therapy office) is another story all together.

For more information on my work with gay and lesbian counseling issues, please call me. I look forward to working with you.

These are some of the common issues my gay, lesbian, transgender and bisexual client’s often come in for:

• Figuring out your sexuality
• Depression
• Anxiety
• Coming out of the closet: who, what, when, where and how
• Self-acceptance
• Finding “the one”
• Codependent relationships (this doesn’t just apply to lesbians)
• Working through communication problems
• Recovering from an affair
• Coming out later in life
• Feelings of rejection or isolation
• Parenting Issues
• Dealing with in-laws
• Drug and alcohol problems
