Long Beach EMDR

At Long Beach Therapy, we have 3 people who do EMDR Therapy:   Erica, Kent, and Amie.

EMDR stands for: Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing.

EMDR can be used to help people with trauma, complex trauma, PTSD, depression, anxiety, self-esteem issues, phobias, grief and loss, as well as a number of other issues.  EMDR works to heal mental health issues by targeting the adverse life experiences that caused those issues (past and present).   The questions your therapist will ask you works almost like an algorithm to figure out what those adverse life experiences are and then healing those memories so that instead of treating symptoms of various mental health issues, it works to heal the core of those issues so that they are less likely to come back up.  Most of the clients that I have worked with go through the process of targeting those adverse life experiences and are surprised that those are the memories that come up.  Once we do work on those issues, they often report that issue feels less emotionally intense which allows them to move forward in their lives without the issues causing them further road blocks.

No treatment can offer a guarantee to help every individual, but the research on EMDR is very promising.
