Is the COVID-19 triggering your anxiety?

Tips from a licensed therapist in Long Beach.

I have had many calls from people who had their anxiety “kind of under control” before this and now their anxiety has gotten so bad that they are having panic attacks. You have to remember that people who have never experienced anxiety are now experiencing anxiety for the first time because of this COVID-19 pandemic.

SELF-CARE, SELF-CARE, SELF-CARE, SELF-CARE!!!!!

Figure out things you can do at home to take care of your mental health. Exercise (make sure your doctor is okay with whatever workout you plan to do), eat healthy, figure out a schedule even though you are at home so you have a sense of normalcy, pick up the phone and talk to friends, draw, color, listen to music, spend time with your animals, watch the movie you have been wanting to watch, and take a walk around your block (if your city is allowing this and you feel that it is safe).

If all else fails, find a therapist. Since most therapists have stopped seeing people in person and are doing online/phone sessions, it is easier to find a therapist. You just have to find one in your state because a therapist is only allowed to see clients who live in the state they are licensed in.
