For those of you looking for a one-word answer: YES, online therapy is legit.

For many of us, therapy has historically been an in-person thing.   However, since COVID, many of us non-techie people have had to get comfortable with technology. I’m not saying that therapists are the least techie of all fields, but I would guess we are pretty close to the bottom of that list.  Most therapists get into therapy because of the HUMAN connection and HUMAN healing, not because we love technology.  That being said, many therapists have found more pros than cons of online therapy and many clients prefer the convenience and privacy of online therapy.

Tip to finding a legit therapist:

It is important to make sure that your therapist is licensed and qualified to provide therapy.  In California, you can go to https://bbs.ca.gov/ and look up your therapist’s licensed to make sure they are licensed and that they haven’t had any complaints filed against them.

You can also look at online reviews to make sure that your therapist is good at what they do.  Ask around to see if any friends know of a good therapist or look at online reviews to see what other people say about them.

If you live in California and are looking for a therapist, please give us a call at Long Beach Therapy: 562-310-9741.
