Will Therapy Work?
This isn’t a question that can be easily answered, as success also depends on a variety of factors. The number 1 factor is your willingness to change. It’s one thing to say that you are ready to change, and quite another to actually work to make those changes happen. I make it my mission to help you create a map for change, but if you are unwilling or unable to follow it, we will need to spend time talking about what is getting in your way of following through on the goals you have made for yourself in therapy.
(Note: Clients make their own goals in therapy. If they need help, I help them with how to set those goals, but ultimately it is my job to help you get to the goals you want for yourself).
If you approach your sessions with a completely open mind, you will have a much better chance for success. If you are not quite ready to make changes in your life, therapy can still help you find ways to cope with your current situation until such times as you are ready for change.
