How to find an LGBTQ+ therapist near me?
I am an out and proud member of the LGBTQ+ community and as the owner of Long Beach Therapy, I make sure that all of our therapists are either a member of the LGBTQ+ community themselves or they are therapists who are allies to the LGBTQ+ community.
The reason I think it is so important to find an LGBTQ+ therapist near you who is either in the LGBTQ+ community themselves or are an ally of our community is that our community is on the chopping block. In 2015, when same sex marriage was solidified into law by the the Supreme Court in the US, it seemed liked we passed a huge milestone and that the rest of our alphabet (TQ+) could soon follow with the right to live an authentic life.
Instead of this, our entire community has been placed back on the chopping block and same-sex couples are afraid that their rights will be taken away by the Supreme Court, transgender people are being told they can’t use the bathroom, and laws are popping up all over the country limiting the LGBTQ+ community in their rights and freedoms.
When you are going to therapy to better yourself, it is important that you know that your therapist stands by you in your desire to be exactly who you were born to be. It’s hard enough to be honest and vulnerable to another person, but it makes it a little easier knowing they are rooting for you in every way possible.
We believe that the best LGBTQ+ therapist is the one who you feel comfortable with, which is why we have several different therapists for you to choose from. We have therapists who are in the LGBTQ+ community themselves and also have therapists who are LGBTQ+ allies. Please call to see if we are the right fit for you.
If you live in California and are looking for a LGBTQ+ therapist, please give us a call at Long Beach Therapy: 562-310-9741.
